School Meal Program charges

It is Watson Chapel School District's goal to provide nutritious meals to students during the school day.  Students may be eligible for breakfast and lunch at no cost, or a reduced cost, if they are categorically eligible or based on the Federal poverty guidelines.  We strongly recommend all students have a free and reduced meal application filled out to ensure we identify those students who are eligible.   After you fill out an application, please watch your mail for a confirmation letter stating what your student's meal status is.  If you do not receive a letter within 10 days, please contact Child Nutrition at 870-879-6661.

When a student does not free meals, they are expected to pay for their breakfast and lunch.  For reduced price students, this is $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch.  For regular price students, it is $1.00 for breakfast and $1.50 for lunch.  It is best if parents/guardians can pre-pay for meals so that a negative balance does not occur.

If a student does not have credit on their account, or does not have money to pay for a meal, they will be permitted to charge that meal.  Parents/guardians are responsible to pay for all meals charged.  This includes any meals charged before a free or reduced meal application is received, even if the student later is deemed eligible for free or reduced price meals.

As of January 14, 2019 - any students with a charged balance of $100 or more may receive an alternate lunch entree rather than the regular meal at no charge to that student.  This entree will meet federal nutrition guidelines for a nutritious meal.

As of February 25, 2019 - any students with a charged balance of $50 or more may receive an alternate lunch entree rather than the regular meal at no charge to that student.  This entree will meet federal nutrition guidelines for a nutritious meal.
