LL Owen Implements Phonics Lesson at Lunch Time

It is no secret that many students have lost a sufficient amount of in-person instruction due to Corvid-19 last year; however, LL Owen Elementary School of Watson Chapel School District seeks to close the achievement gap by implementing phonics video lessons at lunch time. Mr. Edgar K. Cooper, the school's new principal says, “Our scholars, teachers, and school community are open to ideas that would impact teaching and learning. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures; we must do what it takes to help our scholars become successful readers. Consequently, this strategy coupled with classroom instruction will give our scholars a double-dose of the tools they need to be successful. We are excited about implementing strategies that help students ascertain small chunks of learning to reach their full potential.”
